What is one of the most overlooked forms of self care?

I think one of the most overlooked forms of self care is being intentional about who you surround yourself with.

I don’t know about you but I was never taught that not everyone is worthy of being in your inner circle. However, I’ve since learned that it’s ok to choose the people you want in your life.

Time is finite. We only have so much of it.

Choose wisely how you want to spend that time and with whom. After all, we do become the average of the 5 people we hang around with the most.

Let’s face it, some people are mean, negative, toxic or are bullies. Some people are only takers and do not know how to give. It’s ok to move forward in life without these types of people. You don’t have to be friends with everyone.

Ask yourself the following questions to determine if someone should be in your inner circle:
Does this person spark joy?

Does this person bring out the best in me or the worst?
Do I complain more when I’m around this person?
Am I anxious when around this person?

Just to be clear, I’m not suggesting to be unkind. I’m suggesting that perhaps the kindest thing you can do for yourself is to be choosey about those who you spend your precious time with.

Surround yourself with those you want to be like.

Choosing your inner circle with intention is sexy.
